SeaDream Yacht Cruise to the Mayan Riviera
I recently had the pleasure of sailing on SeaDream II on the Mayan Riviera.
NO TUX or GALA GOWNS for this yachting experience. For those of you who shun the big ships with their formal dress and glitz, the SeaDream experience may just be the answer for you.
SeaDream Yacht club is a new yachting company that operates the ultra luxury mega yachts of SeaDream I and II. With no more than 110 passengers, this--no clocks, no crowds, no lines, and no stress--ambience may be your sea dream come true.
Founded in September of 2001 by Atle Brumestad and Larry Pimental, both formerly with Seabourn cruises, this unstructured free form holiday has a repeat clientele of over 50%.
They sail 7 day port intensive itineraries and even overnight in ports where they feel their guests might like to enjoy the evening port activities. Maintaining a fairly flexible itinerary, they can adjust for local opportunities, and visit smaller, more out of the way ports.
Guests can enjoy their ‘Cavier and Champagne Splash”, at poolside or on secluded beaches. Their Balinese sun beds are double sun beds raised above the sightline of the yachts railings to provide unobstructed views.
All but one of 55 accommodations are 195 square feet, internet ready, and have CD, DVD, and flat screen TV’s. 16 of these accommodations are convertible to cabins of 390 sq ft with his and her bathroom facilities and a dining area accommodating 4. I can personally recommend the marble clad showers with the best water pressure I’ve experienced at sea!
In addition to a Wellness Center complete with Asian Spa and Fitness Center, a state-of-the-art Golf Simulator, the yachts can boast a large water sports Marina that extends from the vessels stern. All of these activities will be more than inviting after you experience their gourmet dining! One dining room suffices for open dining with the open sidedTop Side restaurant for breakfast and dinner. (24 hr room service available)
All in all…a real R&R luxury experience. But a word of caution: for those who long for lots of activities and entertainment…you better look elsewhere…and if you are prone to seasickness, these ships are small, so bring a little extra bonine…just in case!!
